Fibromyalgia causes pain all over the body.  Most people with fibromyalgia also experience emotional distress, fatigue and sleep disturbances. Some people report tingling or numbness in the hands and feet. TMJ – pain in the jaw – and digestive problems like irritable bowel may also be companions to fibromyalgia. People with fibromyalgia may be more sensitive to pain, a condition called “abnormal pain perception processing”.  Roughly 4 million adults in the US suffer from fibromyalgia. The cause is not known, but it can be effectively treated and managed.

The condition is most often diagnosed during middle age and you are more likely to have fibromialgia as you age. People with Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis are also more likely to develop the condition.
